BAU BAU

BauBau is a brightly coloured bistro/café facing the park of Gustav Mahler Jihlava, Czech Republic. The concept combines solid timber and ceramic floor tiles with modern materials as 100% recyclable resin with a fiber-glass used on tables and chairs. Distribution of the space suits the flow of visitors thanks to the location of the bar counter directly opposite the entrance door as well as the creation of the main seating in the side recess.

I chose to keep the design simple by focusing on the materials used and I decorated the front of the bar simply with a subtle texture of vertically placed cladding timber. The black-painted metal suspension system above the countertop completed by LED lights & pink dog neon light inside the niche create two eye-catching centrepieces. Despite its limited size, thoughtful seating layouts, the space can accommodate up to 30 eaters. In addition to sitting at the bar and around the tables, deep window sills were used to sit too. In the larger one, a comfortable seat was createdand in the second, a solid wood desk  anchored to a metal grid coat hanger provides visitors with a great view from the window out on the street, when eating.
